颜学迁 & 张起政 - two new artistes from our school! Two vibrant new artistes from Lee Wei Song School of Music who can sing and compose songs have recently released their debut album in Singapore. Their album <の勇气> has helped gain them exposure far beyond our shores. The hit song 《我不是。。。宋承宪》helped them break into the Korean market and even introduce them to Japanese listeners!
With a spiky-fun debut album that is at the same time uncomplicated in style, the boys easily make the jump into the Chinese pop industry with their child-like innocence and energetic exuberance.
How they were discovered 颜学迁 (Yan Xueqian) was the winner of the Trinity Competition 2004 (KL School), LWS School of Music’s Singing Competition!
张起政 (Zhang Qizheng) was a member of the LWS Performing Group in KL School, where he was discovered by Mr Tan Yen-Hue, the Head of Department there!

Music of the Li Brothers Concert 19th Feb 2006 , 7pm at Esplanade
As part of the Huayi Festival, a tribute concert by the Li brothers was held to commemorate twenty successful years in the music industry. Music of the Li Brothers concert was a musical extravaganza featuring many classic pop songs written by the two brothers over the years. Li Wei Song and Li Si Song were joined onstage by friends, current and former students, and many other local and overseas singers.
It was a star-studded night with performances from friends like Ivy Low, Peter Tan, Cai Lilian, Tian Jing, Ng King Kang, Jimmy Ye and Zheng Zhanlun. Even overseas star Julia Pang made an appearance to lend her support to the brothers. Weisong and Sisong’s disciples Huang Yida, Chen Yiyi and the latest discovered duo - Yan Xueqian & Zhang Qizheng were also present to lend support to their mentors.
The highlight of the night was Stefanie Sun, who surprised the brothers with her sudden appearance.

The First-Ever LWSSOM Valentine’s Day Party, 18th of February 2006 Article by: Foo Ling Yann Ever wondered how Hideaki would look with a Madonna-style cone-shaped bra and a wicked leopard scarf? Or how Qi Sheng and Huan Cheng would spice up the catwalk … together? Or even who has the most armpit hair in school? All these absolutely naughty questions were answered one sizzling February night … with tongue-in-cheek, of course. Hosted by Jovi and I, the party’s games galore, pumping hot tracks and energetic performances kept the crowd at the clubhouse madly giggling and falling off their seats (well, almost), and set the magnificent stage centerpiece ‘Heart with Wings’ ablazed with the wild atmosphere. The first item up was the uplifting Stephanie Sun’s pop-rock song ‘First Day’ performance by Joanne and Peichin, followed by the audience’s ‘first’ experience of shock that night --- The Scavenger Hunt. The game had the audience divided into black, red and blue teams and rooting for their representatives to deliver the loudest burp, the most pink items and the most armpit hair (of all things), etc. Each team, headed by Aaron, Huan Cheng and Qi Sheng respectively, then elected a couple each for the Mr. and Miss LWSSOM pageant, that brought quite a few surprises. There was a sweetly shy guy who suddenly break-danced in the middle of what was thought to be a routine shy dance around his seated female companion, a couple that stuck stunning poses for their catwalk and yet another guy thinking of flexing his muscles but in the end held back. In the end, the couple that took the cake was Ee Shuen (“my smile is my most charming factor”) and Alvin Tan Yong Hao (that guy that broke the dance :p_).
The Divas - Li Dan, Hideaki, Aaron Next up was a pageant of a different kind – the ultimate drag-queen showdown, except that none of the drag queens elected by their groups ever knew what was coming. From a limited pool of three cone-shaped bras, scarfs and colored feathers, fellow group members had to grab the most of which to transform these guys into women. Finally Aaron had to go without the cones while Li Dan had two pairs, one of which ended up on his head. Though Hideaki was a close sultry runner-up (he beat the other contestants to be THE Hai-Dai Queen), Li Dan eventually won the not-so-coveted title with his team members’ delightful make-up skills and his own ‘totally-into-it’ strut on the catwalk. UV 134 then put up a rousing song-and-dance medley of ‘Wu Ding’, ‘Jiu Shi Ai’ and ‘Don’t Stop’. At last, the event’s organizers, the ubiquitous LWSLeaders, took their bow in front of the audience and took in the cheers for their weeks of planning and effort at making the party fun for all and making sure everyone leaves the clubhouse with roses and beads. But with these guys around, you can be sure that the fun does not end there. Watch out for upcoming events by this student committee and be sure to be the first to sign up for them! |
